Shamrocks
Saint Patrick’s Day happens on March 17. It's a holiday that started in Ireland. Ireland is a country on an island near England.
People celebrate St. Patrick’s Day because of someone named Patrick. He was kidnapped when he was 16 years old. He was taken to Ireland but escaped after six years. Later he went back. He taught people there about Christianity. Christianity is a religion. People who believe in it believe in a god.
Patrick is said to have used a plant to help explain Christianity. The plant was the shamrock. Shamrocks are green. Now people wear green on St. Patrick’s Day!
